Tile Partners for Humanity, Inc. (TPFH), a
philanthropic organization for the tile industry and a partner with Habitat for
Humanity International, says longtime TPFH supporter Laticrete has donated in
excess of $400,000 in materials and cash for the installation of tile and stone
hard surfaces in 2009. These donations were directed toward the numerous
Habitat for Humanity affiliates for use in building high-quality, decent and
affordable homes for under privileged families in their respective communities.
“The entire Laticrete
family believes in the mission of Habitat for Humanity and views Tile Partners
for Humanity as an ideal channel for us, and the entire tile and stone
industry, to contribute in an active and meaningful way,” said Ed Metcalf,
Laticrete president, North America. “In addition to our product and cash
donations, many Laticrete employees donate their own personal time to serve on
these projects, and we are all pleased to provide a more durable and lower
maintenance housing environment for Habitat homeowners.” Metcalf was selected
as the first recipient of “Tile Person of the Year” by the TPFH board of
directors and honored at last year’s Coverings’ tile and stone exhibition for
leading a company-wide commitment included, product, cash donations, and labor.
“Laticrete has been a
strong supporter of TPFH since its inception in 2003, and we are very grateful
for their continued commitment to help TPFH achieve its mission of
strengthening communities and improving the quality of lives,” says Lynn
Labuda, executive director for TPFH.
