TCAA announces Project of the Year awardees

First Place (Residential) was awarded to G.M. Sloan Mosaic & Tile Co. for its Hawthorn Woods Country Club – Lot 368 project. Project architect was Joe Muran of Muran Nowak of Hawthorn Woods, IL.


Tile Contractors’ Association of America (TCAA) has announced the winners of its annual Project of the Year Awards. The awardees will be honored for their outstanding commercial and residential tile installations during the TCAA’s 107th annual convention in Orlando, FL. The Project of the Year winners are:

Commercial Category
First Place was awarded to Selectile of California, Inc. (Anaheim, CA) for its Disney Grand California Hotel Expansion. Project architect was Morris Architecture of Los Angeles, CA.

Second Place was awarded to Trostrud Mosaic & Tile Co., Inc. (Wood Dale, IL) for its Artistic Tile Showroom (Chicago, IL) Project. Project architect was Jeff Hoyer of SPARC Architecture & Design of Chicago, IL.

Residential Category
First Place was awarded to G.M. Sloan Mosaic & Tile Co. (Mundelein, IL) for its Hawthorn Woods Country Club – Lot 368 project. Project architect was Joe Muran of Muran Nowak of Hawthorn Woods, IL.

Second Place was awarded to Port Morris Tile & Marble Corp. (Bronx, NY) for its 246 Spring Street project. Project architect was Handel Architects of New York.

Technical Merit
Technical Merit was awarded to KrisStone, LLC. (Roselle Park, NJ) for work on the Bergen Town Center Mall in Pa-ramus, NJ. Project architect for this project was Michael Lowry of Cooper Carry, Inc. of Atlanta, GA.

Projects completed in 2008 or 2009 were eligible for the awards. Projects were reviewed by an independent panel of judges and ranked on the basis of technical and artistic achievement.
