Outstanding and visionary use of tile and stone in
sustainable projects will be the centerpiece of “PROJECT: Green,” a new program
presented by Coverings 2010 in partnership with
Environmental Design +
Construction (ED+C) magazine.
ED+C and Coverings
have issued a call for entries seeking the “best sustainable projects featuring
tile and stone,” and the selected projects will be displayed during the
Coverings international tile and stone exposition, April 27-30, at the Orange
County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Additional recognition will come
following the show via an editorial feature in
ED+C.
“PROJECT: Green” is
open to both domestic and international projects that have been completed
between January 2008 and December 2009, and which incorporate tile and stone
while demonstrating a clear commitment to green design. The deadline for
submissions is March 1.
“Sustainable
design is the direction in which the entire design community is eventually
headed,” said Jennifer Hoff, president of National Trade Productions, which
manages and produces Coverings. “Joining
Environmental Design +
Construction to sponsor this exciting new showcase is a valuable
opportunity to recognize this shift within the industry, and another example of
our efforts to offer innovative programming reflecting the topics that are most
timely and relevant for Coverings attendees.”
“PROJECT:
Green” will honor projects in five categories: Residential – New and Remodel;
Commercial – New and Remodel; Most Recycled Content; Green Bath; and, Green
Kitchen. Each entry must be submitted online at
coverings.com/project-green.html , and must be accompanied
by a 500-word essay detailing the sustainability of the project; a list of the
green certifications applied for/awarded for the project; a list of green
products used; and three to five high-resolution photographs. There is no fee
to enter.
Coverings
is sponsored by ASCER (Ceramic Tile Manufacturers Association of Spain),
Confindustria Ceramica (Italian Association of Ceramics), Tile Council of North
America (TCNA), Ceramic Tile Distributors Association (CTDA), and National Tile
Contractors Association (NTCA).
