Trend USA is a sponsor of one of the most energy efficient, sustainable homes in the country. Using LED lights exclusively, the home also features Trend Q, Greenguard Certified for Children & Schools and FEEL glass mosaic, both post-consumer recycled products chosen for their durability, beautiful design and contribution to LEED certification.

Opening to the public by appointment on June 26, the Beverly, MA, prototype has applied for LEED Platinum Certification and includes home automation and energy monitoring systems, a full rainwater recovery system with low flow water fixtures and an Energy Recovery system which filters airborne allergens. The home uses geothermal energy, solar photovoltaic panels, and solar thermal hot water.

Marcello Becchi, Trend director of business development and LEED AP, wanted to "demonstrate in an educational environment how sustainability with low VOC emissions was possible without sacrificing design and beauty." Presented with this unique project by Jennifer Reetz Martyn of The Tile Source, Becchi notes, "Not only has the home applied for LEED Platinum Certification, it is one of the first in this country that uses 100% LED lights. We are proud to be part Cleantech's efforts to educate the public in sustainable building techniques with our materials being an integral part of the effort."

Appointments to tour the home can be made by visiting www.cleantechbuilt.net. All post-consumer recycled Trend USA surface materials can be seen at www.trendingreen.com.
