Schluter®-DITRA-XL provides the same four essential functions as Schluter®-DITRA, i.e. uncoupling, waterproofing, vapor management, and support/load distribution, but is 5/16" thick, whereas DITRA is 1/8" thick. The increased thickness of DITRA-XL allows for even transitions between typical ceramic tile and 3/4" thick hardwood flooring. The added thickness of DITRA-XL also increases the movement accommodation capabilities of the product. As a result, it allows for ceramic tile installations over single layer wood floors with 24" o.c. joist spacing. Installers can now choose the membrane best designed to suit the needs of their specific project: DITRA or DITRA-XL.
