Organizers of the 22nd Unicera
International Ceramic Bathroom Kitchen Fair, held annually by TUYAP in cooperation with Turkish Ceramics Federation and
TIMDER (Association of Sanitary Installation and Construction Materials), say
the recent exhibition held in Istanbul, Turkey (April 7-11) was the “largest
participation in the ceramic industry.”
The fair welcomed 197
companies and company representatives from 12 different countries this year,
creating a large commercial potential by meeting the leading ceramic buyers and
manufacturers from Middle East, Middle Asia and the Balkans.

Hıghlighting the five-day
event was the project, ceramİSTanbul, prepared by Hacettepe University’s department of ceramic,
faculty of fine arts Mutlu Başkaya, that featured 44 artists who presented a panorama of
half-century old modern Turkish ceramic art.
Sustainable Design & Unicera
Sustainability and eco-design were at the forefront of several
presentations, including that of Dr. Han Brezet, Head of
Sustainable Design Department of Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering,
University of Delft, Netherlands.
Brezet was followed by Micol
Costi of Milano, who heads the library and material research
department of the Italian research team of Material ConneXion. With his
important works on sustainable materials, Costi provided the
industry representatives with timely information on this topic.
Another well-attended session
was “TURQUALITY,” the “only branding program in the world sponsored by a
government,” say Unicera organizers. Welcoming Feyza Erdoğan,
Assistant Specialist in Branding and R & D Support Agency Directorate,
General Directorate of Export of T.R. Prime Ministry Undersecretariat of
Foreign Trade as one of the speakers, panelists discussed the development
process, vision and objectives, as well as support, the brand program,
an automation system, and more.
