The Water Cube, one of the most sustainable venues ever built, was also designed to conserve water, a major issue in North China. The 100,000 square meters (1,076,000 square feet) of ETFE foils (cushions) on the outer surface and roof facade can annually collect 10,000 tons of rainwater. The Water Cube will recycle and reuse 80 percent of the water harvested from the catchments on the roof, pool backwash systems and overland flows, reducing its reliance on the district water supply system.

MAPEI adhesives used in several Olympic venues

MAPEI products, in cooperation with athletic track supplier Mondo, has partaken in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as an adhesive supplier for 10 Olympic venues. Many of the MAPEI products used in the Olympics project were adhesives specifically developed for the athletic tracks made of synthetic rubber flooring.


Hanley Wood donates record $500K to FCIF

Hanley Wood Exhibitions, producers of the Surfaces trade show, recently entered into an agreement with World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) guaranteeing a payment of $20,000 annually to FCIF every year through 2033, for a total of $500,000 over the next 25 years.
