The Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association (ASCER) is seeking entries for the Tile of Spain Awards for Architecture and Interior Design. The contest aims to recognize projects that “best reflect the development of Spanish ceramic tiles in cutting edge architecture,” the group said.
Conestoga Tile, based in Harrisburg, Pa., is celebrating its golden anniversary this year. The distributor is getting the word out with a special trade show slated for Central Pennsylvania.
The event, called Tile Concepts 2008, is set for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Eisenhower Hotel and Conference Center in Gettysburg, Pa. The show will include exhibits from more than 40 manufacturers showcasing their latest products.
Reviglass offers an interactive design tool on its website at www.reviglass.com. The interactive CompoColor tool allows visitors to create designs using the Reviglass family of products, which includes a wide range of 100 percent recycled glass mosaics.

Tile has added Viking Distributors and Kaiser Tile to its network. Viking,
based in Baton Rouge with two additional Gulf Coast locations, will cover
Mississippi and Louisiana.
Hanley Wood Exhibitions, producers of the Surfaces trade show, recently entered into an agreement with World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) guaranteeing a payment of $20,000 annually to FCIF every year through 2033, for a total of $500,000 over the next 25 years.
Zeynep Bodur Okyay, president of tile maker the Kale Group, has been named president of the Ceramic Confederation of Turkey. Along with her duties at Kale, she has a wide range of experience in the tile business, including as president of the Turkish Ceramic Federation (SERFED).

MAPEI products, in cooperation with athletic track supplier Mondo, has partaken in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as an adhesive supplier for 10 Olympic venues. Many of the MAPEI products used in the Olympics project were adhesives specifically developed for the athletic tracks made of synthetic rubber flooring.
A range of tile professionals will offer their expertise during the National Tile Contractors Association's 2008 Total Solutions show, set for Sept. 18-20 in the Washington, D.C. area. Sessions will include information on business and technical concerns.

Roca Tile Group has opened a new corporate showroom in Miami, featuring “the flair of European merchandising customized for American needs.” The showroom focuses less on individual products than overall designs, including color variations, combinations and formats that are designed to inspire the consumer, the company notes.
Tau has opened its second corporate showroom in the U.S. Located near Washington D.C. in Chantilly, Va., the showroom features an expanded design concept and “focuses on a close, direct and professional relationship with consumers, offering them the full range of products from one of the largest selections available in the market today,” according to the company. The new showroom also includes more than 2,000 sq. ft. of space.
Tecnargilla, the international show for the ceramic and brick industries, will include a special exhibit of “ceramics and light” called Ceramilights. The exhibit, which will be located at the entrance to the trade fair in Rimini, Italy, will “present inspiring ideas about new horizons in ceramics decoration and applications in the homes and cities of the future,” organizers said.

Already launched in cities including Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, the Resource Center will serve as a new one-stop shop to GranitiFiandre’s U.S. commercial customers, the company said. Each center includes a swatch wall that features the company’s porcelain tile and mosaic accessories. A Dallas center is slated to open before the end of the summer, with other locations following throughout early fall, the company added.
Hand-painted tile maker Mizner Industries has opened a showroom in Ft. Lauderdale. Located at 1081 NE 45th St., the 2,100 sq. ft. space houses a showroom and painting studio in front, and space for storage, tile production and kiln firing in the back.
