From April-June 2009, Clear Seas Research in partnership with National
Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) and TILE Magazine
conducted research with industry professionals using both an online and mail
survey data collection approach to understand industry trends, brand
awareness/familiarity, brand preference, purchase drivers and current business
practices.
Contractors, architects, distributors and retailers doing business with
owners of new and renovating rental units and condos should recommend
or specify acoustical floor underlayment for under new finished floors
that meets or exceeds local building department acoustical standards.
The 8th Annual 2009 Minnesota Tile Festival, held recently at the historic American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis by the Handmade Tile Association (HTA), was deemed a success with more than 800 visitors from 23 states to view and purchase items from 30 handmade tile and mosaic artists.
"Building, Dwelling, Thinking" is the theme of Cersaie's (Sept. 29-Oct. 3) extensive architecture and design program that features more than 50 speakers, including the anticipated keynote address by Renzo Piano. 90,000 visitors from around the world set to attend, preparations for Cersaie
2009 have been completed. The four-day show has historically been a launching
pad for innovative new products.

Spain branded manufacturers showcased the latest products from
Spain.

Despite a global slow down, China’s strong domestic market makes its

Attendees of the
recently held American Institute of Architects’ 2009 National Convention in San
Francisco, CA, found new technology, designs and trends. In conceptualizing
the design of the pavilion, Tile of Spain centered on four identified
architectural goals and how they could be realized through innovative products.
Wedi Corp. presents the wedi Fundo Riolito, a prefabricated tileable
shower system designed to drain water through a narrow gap between the
cover plate and adjacent tiling. Featuring a linear or channel drain,
the Riolito is available in three cover plate finishes in high quality
stainless steel. The system is designed to drain at 16 gallons a
minute, offered in 3" by 5" and 4" by 6" sizes, and ideal for
installations where ADA requirements need to be met according to the
company.
Against a backdrop of economic uncertainty, Coverings 2009, North America’s largest trade show for ceramic tile, stone and related accessories, was held April 21-24 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL.
“Ceramics is the leading sector in Turkey,” said Zeyzep Bodur, Turkish Ceramic Federation chairperson, during the recently held Unicera exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey. “It is the sixth biggest in the world – ranking third in Europe.”
Expo Revestir, the largest ceramic tile and stone trade show in Latin America, saw a dramatic increase in attendance this year despite the current difficulties in the global economy. Overall attendance for the four-day show is expected to reach 40,000, an increase of 12% over the previous year. On the show floor, many manufacturers´ booths were filled to capacity, while long lines waited to register for the event.
International trends in floor coverings, sustainable products, advanced technologies and innovative designs have been unveiled during Expo Revestir’s first day. Now until March 27, Sao Paulo’s Transamerica Expo center is expecting 40,000 visitors from 65 countries, with 180 exhibiting companies.

Cevisama, the International Ceramic Tile and Bath Furnishings Show, opened its doors this year to yet again, showcase the world’s finest in ceramic products, innovations and architectural applications. The products, news and trends that emerge from Cevisama set the tone for the year in ceramic tile. Now in its 27th year, Cevisama 2009 was no exception.
As humans, are all inventors by nature and the
old adage, “Necessity is the mother of invention,” is the catalyst that
inspires creativity, which produces exciting ideas and products every day.
Successful inventors also indirectly create jobs, help the economy, and keep
the country running.
With a whole world of
architects, designers, specifiers and media searching for the hottest new
products and trends, the 2008 edition of Cersaie, the international exhibition
of ceramic tile, did not disappoint.
Approximately 90 companies from Spain’s ceramic tile
industry exhibited as a group and with the support of ICEX (the Spanish
Institute of Foreign Trade) at the 26th Cersaie fair, in Bologna, Italy. This
group of exporters has once again comprised the most abundant foreign
delegation at the annual Italian event.
Although
the country is now almost completely independent from imports of machinery and
equipment, including 7,000-ton presses and kilns measuring over 300 meters in
length, China is still behind developed countries in terms of technology,
innovation and design, most specifically technology for energy-saving and
environmental protection.
Chinese government officers, presidents of national and international ceramic associations, ceramics entrepreneurs, the president and senior officials of Foshan China Ceramics City Development Ltd. and domestic and international media outlets recently attended the grand opening ceremony of the China Ceramics Industry Headquarters (CCIH).
The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) recently held its most successful Total Solutions conference to-date despite the recent economic downturn at the new Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor on the Potomac River, the association says.
The 26th edition of Cersaie, the international exhibition of ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings, recently took place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 in Bologna, Italy. Although the week was pressed against a world financial crisis, attendance figures did not disappoint nor did the efforts brought forth by those exhibiting.
Recently
in Sao Paulo, Brazil, awards were given recognizing the ceramicist, company and
suppliers of the year for 2008. After tabulating the votes from questionnaires
sent to the Brazilian ceramic sector, the winners were chosen, including
78-year-old Ceramica Atlas’ owner Geraldo Ricciardi with the Ceramicist of the
Year Award

held its Total Solutions 2008 conference at the Gaylord National Hotel in
National Harbor, MD. The two-day conference included a variety of high-profile
industry speakers, hands-on demonstrations, and tabletop displays from many
manufacturers of ceramic tile and related accessories.
United States ceramic tile distributors and
manufacturers recently participated in the 2nd U.S. China Trade Mission to gain
first-hand information from Chinese ceramic and stone manufacturers, tour
factories and discussed ways of building business partnerships during the U.S.
China Ceramic Forum.
No
material provides a better barrier to humidity or stops water from seeping
through as efficiently as ceramic tile. Its use in swimming pools, spas and
public baths is a clear statement that there is no better solution in such
environments than ceramic tile.
Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom
Furnishings, will take place from September 30 to October 4, 2008 at the
Bologna Exhibition Centre, and will treat visitors from all over the world to a
one-of-a-kind trade show experience.
On August 8, 2008, the eyes of the world shift to Beijing, Mainland China, for the commencement of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. Beijing, literally translated as “Northern Capital,” is the capital of the People’s Republic of China and the second largest city on the Mainland.
The 20th UNICERA Ceramic and Bathroom Trade Fair, held in
Istanbul, Turkey, recently, hosted more than 60,000 attendees, a record for
this event, say organizers. Compared to the first show held in April 1988 with
100 square meters of space and 8,500 attendees, the 2008 exhibition had grown
to encompass more than 40,000 square meters with from more than 170 exhibitors.
